Brubaby

Hey Sweet Stuff,

Last night, as Daddy and I were closing up after our Young Adult Bible Study, one of our friends called down the hall as he left, "Good night, Brubakers! Good night, Brubaby!"

I love that our friends recognize you as your own little person. And I LOVE that in 9 days, we will know who that little person is! I'm sure "Brubaby," the name your aunties gave you, will stick for a while, but I'm so happy to know that Daddy and I can soon start referring to you using the names we've chosen.

Just can't wait, Little Brubaby!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to you, our precious little one!

We are so excited thinking about getting to share your first Easter with you next year.

Only two weeks until Daddy and I know whether we'll be putting you in a cute little outfit complete with suspenders or lots of ruffles :-) Can't wait!

Here's what you look like this year...

We had a very busy day. It started at 4:30am so that we could get ready and leave the house in time to do last minute preparations for the Easter Breakfast at church (as I was getting myself ready this morning, I wondered, how is this going to work next year with a 6 month old?) Daddy and I will have lots to learn about getting a little one ready quickly on Sunday mornings :-)

After the breakfast at church was finished, and we had cleaned up the

kitchen/fellowship hall and been to a service, we headed to Jan and Bob's house for an Easter celebration with Daddy's godparents, tias, and your Grandma B. It was a lovely afternoon!

You were the center of conversation. Everyone wanted to know how you were doing, how I was doing, when you were due, when we'd find out if you were a boy or girl...all sorts of things!

It was fun to talk about you and imagine what next year will be like. We are so excited!

17 Weeks

Hey little one,

Daddy just came back last night from a week away, and it's so good to have him home! He goes every year up to Frasier Park with the 6th grade class at school, and he loves every minute of being back at a camp. I've always known he could be a year-round camp counselor for the rest of his life and be happy, but it was nice to hear him say that as much as he loves camp, he knows he has much more exciting adventures ahead of him just being your daddy.

We're going to have so much fun!

We are hosting a party for you three weeks from today where we will announce whether you are a boy or a girl, and then we'll share your name with our friends and family. We're looking forward to it! It will just be a simple BBQ, but being able to announce our news will be so much fun!

I can't believe we're only three weeks away from knowing what you are. I'm so excited!

The next few weekends are looking pretty exciting. In one week, it's Easter, in two weeks, we're going to be spending the weekend in San Diego at my cousin Lucas's wedding, and in three weeks, we get to find out if you're a boy or a girl! Just can't wait.

Daddy and I are starting to think about our vacation this year. It's going to be the last one without you. We're so excited about getting to take you places with us! You'll be the cutest little camper in the park :-) No camping for Mommy this year, but we're thinking about other things we can do that will be close to home (just in case) and still feel like we "got away."

It's fun to think about the trips we will do as a family. Daddy and I can't wait to share this amazing world with you. God truly is an artist. We pray that you always see His hand in everything in your life!

16 Weeks

Our Sweet Baby,

You're 16 weeks along in your journey. It's so exciting to be nearing the halfway point of my pregnancy. Daddy and I can't wait to meet you!

You're becoming more and more apparent to the world, and that's exciting, too! By now you're probably about the size of an avocado. It's funny to picture an avocado rolling around inside of me and not be able to feel it. I know I'll be feeling you move around very soon, because every once in a while, I feel flutterings and movements and I know it's you stretching around and exploring your environment.

My morning sickness has finally gone away. You sure caused Mommy a lot of havoc! I've been off of my anti-nausea prescription for 2 weeks now, and I'm slowly getting back to eating normal food. Life is becoming wonderful again! I'm happy that my signs of pregnancy are an ever rounder tummy and feeling your tiny movements--instead of morning sickness! I think this trimester will be a much more pleasant one :-)

We are less than a month away now from finding out who we will be bringing home in September. Are you a little boy, or a little girl? God knows, and you do. I have to admit, I hope this is the biggest secret you ever keep from us. I hope with all of my heart that as you grow, you will trust your mom and dad and know that you can tell us anything. We will always love you.

We're going to the doctor as soon as I get off work on May 6th for the ultrasound that will (hopefully! no squirming around in there!) tell us who you are. Be good for the doctor and show your true colors, ok? :-)

We can't wait to know!

Now that I'm finally feeling better, I'm itching to make all sorts of things for you. I just need to know if I should add flowers and bows or cars and dinosaurs. We're going to have so much fun!

So proud of you

Howdy little one,

I am so excited about you and I am constantly thankful for your presence in our lives.  I have your latest picture on my phone right now and it is so amazing to be able to see you everyday and to share you with others.  I am always showing you off to the youth I work with, friends, church members and random people I meet at the grocery store.  I am so proud of you, our little blessing.

It is great to know that your Mom and I aren't the only ones who are looking forward to meeting you.  Your grandparents, aunts and uncle are all eager to hear any news or updates we have about your growth.  My students are always asking what we are going to name you and when they will get to see you (other than on my phone of course).  You are already so loved by so many.

Just writing this has brought me such a smile and a joy to be your father.  I can only imagine how great it will be to see and hear you the next time and can't fathom the greatness of holding you for the first time.
